Knowledge Areas

OnBoard Knowledge Journal is a scientific journal edited and funded as part of a commitment to advancing knowledge in the fields of Engineering and Technology, as well as Social Sciences. Founded in 2025, this publication aims to establish itself as a leading academic platform for researchers, professionals, and students interested in the intersection of technological innovation and its societal impact. Its mission is to serve as a bridge for the dissemination of high-quality research addressing contemporary issues, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, and contributing to the global development of knowledge.

OnBoard Knowledge Journal defines its areas of interest in alignment with the guidelines of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Naval Training, Instruction, and Education Headquarters (JINEN), through the National Navy Education System (SEAN). The fields of Engineering and Technology, alongside Social Sciences, are fundamental pillars of the journal and are intrinsically linked to the four R&D&I programs of the Armada Nacional de Colombia.

  1. Strengthening Naval Power: This area connects with advances in Engineering and Technology applied to the modernization of naval capabilities, the development of defense, navigation, and communication systems, as well as research into materials and emerging technologies that enhance operational effectiveness at sea.
  2. Strategy, Institutional Management, and Logistic Processes: Framed within Social Sciences, this program addresses research in governance, public administration, resource optimization, and logistics management, focusing on improving institutional processes and ensuring operational sustainability.
  3. Development of Maritime and Riverine Interests: This interdisciplinary area integrates Engineering and Technology with Social Sciences, promoting research on the sustainability of aquatic resources, environmental protection, maritime and riverine economic development, and the strengthening of public policies that support national maritime interests.
  4. Antarctic Agenda: Linked to both Social Sciences and Engineering and Technology, this program fosters the study of geopolitical strategies, environmental preservation in polar regions, and the development of technologies to enable safe and sustainable operations in extreme conditions.

OnBoard Knowledge Journal aims to promote the development and dissemination of research that addresses the contemporary challenges of the Armada Nacional de Colombia, contributing to technological innovation and social analysis from a comprehensive perspective aligned with international standards.
