Abstract

This paper will analyze the threats facing Colombia, considering its geostrategic location, which makes it a platform prone to illicit activities. The analysis will include various global factors, including transnational threats, and will also address the impact of the internal conflict affecting the country. This conflict is fueled by different agents of violence who exploit political and economic instability to undermine national security.

In line with Article 217 of the Political Constitution of Colombia, which stipulates that the Nation shall have Armed Forces dedicated to defending sovereignty, independence, integrity, and constitutional order, it is crucial to identify the role played by Naval Intelligence. This intelligence, resulting from the planning, collection, processing, integration, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of information available in an operational environment, provides a comprehensive view of the theater of operations.

Thus, Naval Intelligence facilitates the projection of future operations through the interrelation and synchronization of information. This is essential for the development of joint, coordinated, interinstitutional, and intelligent operations in the field of national security, enabling the effective prevention, detection, and counteraction of criminal activities.
