Análisis de la influencia oscilación Madden-Julian (OMJ) en el comportamiento océano-atmosférico de la Cuenca Colombia durante el periodo 2010-2019

This study analyzes the influence of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) on the
ocean-atmosphere behavior of the Colombian Basin between 2010 and 2019. Although
phenomena such as El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) have been widely studied in
Colombia, the MJO has received less attention. Variables such as air temperature,
precipitation, sea surface temperature, and atmospheric pressure were evaluated through
seasonal, intraseasonal, and spectral analyses. The results showed that the MJO modulates
these variables with distinct patterns depending on its phase: during the convective phase,
temperature and precipitation increase, while during the subsiding phase, they decrease.
Although it is not the main driver of climate variability, the MJO acts as a significant regional
modulator, influencing the occurrence of other climate phenomena..
