Evolution of Naval Logistics in the Colombian Navy: History and Strategic Perspectives

The document presents a comprehensive historical analysis of the evolution of naval logistics, exploring its development from early military strategies to its status in 2020. Its aim is to provide an integrated view of the importance and evolution of this discipline, highlighting the contributions of key figures such as Sun Tzu, Alfred Thayer Mahan, Julian Stafford Corbett, as well as contemporaries like Geoffrey Till and Ian Speller. The methodology employed includes a review of historical, academic, and military publications, with emphasis on crucial periods such as World War II and the technological advancements of the 20th century. The study reveals that naval logistics has been essential to the success of military operations, showcasing how advances in communication and transportation have transformed this field, enhancing its efficiency and operational capacity. Furthermore, international cooperation is identified as a critical factor for the sustainability and effectiveness of logistical operations. Contemporary innovations and the integration of modern technology are highlighted as vital for addressing current challenges. The article concludes that naval logistics remains fundamental to military strategy and state projection, continuously adapting to new challenges and technological opportunities, thereby providing a comprehensive understanding of the past, present, and future relevance of naval logistics in military and geopolitical contexts.
