Integrating Antarctic Education into Innovation and Improved Practices in Military Education
Keywords:
Antarctica, Military education, Geopolitics, Polar scienceAbstract
This article examines the relevance of incorporating the study of Antarctica in the education of the armed forces, highlighting its geopolitical and scientific importance, and proposing concrete strategies to achieve such integration. It is argued that Antarctica, although a territory consecrated to peace and science by the Antarctic Agreement, has a strategic interest for many nations, which justifies that military officers understand its context. Through an analysis of cases, particularly the experiences of armed forces operating on the white continent, it is shown that integrating knowledge about Antarctica and training in polar environments strengthens the professional capabilities of the military. Finally, pedagogical recommendations are presented to include the Antarctic theme in military training, anticipating a positive impact on the academic and operational preparation and on the international projection of officers.
