The Beginning of an Editorial Project Serving Naval, Maritime, and Strategic Knowledge

Abstract

This editorial presents the launch of OnBoard Knowledge Journal as an institutional editorial project created to strengthen naval, maritime, and strategic knowledge production at the Escuela Naval de Cadetes “Almirante Padilla”. The text highlights the journal’s role as an academic platform for disseminating scientific research, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, and supporting innovation in response to the naval, maritime, riverine, technological, social, educational, and strategic challenges faced by Colombia. It also emphasizes the journal’s alignment with the institutional mission of ENAP, particularly its commitment to research culture, academic excellence, editorial rigor, and the formation of future officers of the Colombian Navy. Collectively, the editorial frames OnBoard Knowledge Journal as a space for connecting scientific knowledge with institutional, operational, and national needs, while projecting Colombian naval thought toward new frontiers of research, innovation, and academic cooperation.
