Abstract

The design of a photovoltaic solar electrical system for the Colombian Navy's Diving School (ESBUC) aims to meet the energy demands of 110V equipment through a renewable, sustainable, and efficient solution. This project seeks to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and promote energy self-sufficiency within the institution, aligning with national environmental goals. The methodology employed was quantitative, with a descriptive and propositional design that allowed for the analysis of ESBUC's current energy situation, the identification of its carbon footprint, and the evaluation of viable photovoltaic system options. PVsyst software was used to perform precise simulations, model configurations, and select the most efficient alternative. Data collection included historical information and a detailed inventory of equipment distributed across classroom and administrative areas, which served as a representative sample for estimating total energy demand. The results demonstrated that the designed system could cover 100% of ESBUC's annual energy demand, generating a surplus of usable energy and significantly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Simulations validated the system's technical and operational feasibility, while projections demonstrated their positive impact in terms of sustainability and economic efficiency. In conclusion, this project establishes a replicable energy transition model based on renewable sources, which not only meets ESBUC's current needs but also represents an opportunity for future expansions and improvements.
